Making Us Your Lawyers
How to Make us Your Attorneys...
If you are interested in discussing legal representation telephone our office at
919-683-2135, Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM- 5:00 PM. Our legal assistants,
Barbara Elwell, Lisa Ruiz, and Kate McAllister, and Beth Clurman will be happy to connect you to
one of our attorneys to discuss your concerns. If you care to leave a detailed
message, voice mail is an option. Each attorney has e-mail for receiving a
confidential message about your case. Also, if you would like to contact the
firm from this website to discuss a case you can also, click on "Case
Inquiry" button, and someone will be in touch with you soon.
In all cases we have an initial consultation with the client to determine if the
case is one in which we can be of help. In most cases the initial consultation
is without charge. In other cases, the attorney will charge for the hours that
are spent in the consultation at our standard hourly rate. When you make your
initial contact, you will be advised of the fee arrangement for the initial
consultation.
After the initial consultation, the client and the attorney will decide if we
can be of assistance in the case and whether the client wants us to handle the
case. At that time, a contract of representation will be agreed to with the
client. Until there is a contract, we do not represent the client.
Many cases are handled on a contingency fee basis. This means that we only get
paid a fee if we recover money for the client. Sometimes the case is handled on
an hourly basis, and the client is billed for the hours that the attorney and
paralegal spend on the case. We will be happy to advise you of the most
appropriate fee arrangement for your case based on our experience in handling
similar cases.
If you need help with an employment dispute, a case involving discrimination, or
a civil rights matter you will be asked to complete a questionnaire. This
questionnaire is available to you now by clicking on
"Case Inquiry" and following the instructions. Or you can simply send us
your mailing address and one will be mailed to you. This must be done promptly
since the time period for bringing such a claim can be as short as six months.
That information will be reviewed by an attorney at no charge and you will be
contacted.
